The ‘Far East Street’ exhibition will take place on the embankment of Ayaks Bay on 27 September as part of the 6th Eastern Economic Forum. All 11 regions of the Far Eastern Federal District, including the Sakhalin Region, will present their expositions at the exhibition. The exhibition is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Office of the Russian Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District.

“One of the objectives of economic development involves attracting investments. Investors need suitable conditions for business development and to launch new projects. The goal of the ‘Far East Street’ exhibition is to show areas that may be of interest to business. The Sakhalin Region has focused on energy, digitalization, and tourism,” Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev said.

The Sakhalin Region is the first region in Russia to implement a carbon neutrality project. The region is working on creating a hydrogen cluster, producing ‘green coal’ and ‘green LNG’, and building a wind park and geothermal power plants. The slogan of the region’s exposition reflects the priorities of the island region: ‘Green Business – Green Islands!’.

“We have decided for ourselves as a matter of principle that the Sakhalin Region should become an ecologically clean territory. This primarily involves such issues as people’s health and quality of life. In addition, such a region is attractive to investors. And this is crucial to diversifying the economy, implementing investment projects in various industries, and creating new jobs,” Sakhalin Region Governor Valery Limarenko said.

Keeping with the theme of respect for nature, the Sakhalin Region will reduce the number of printed materials, so visitors to the region’s pavilion at the ‘Far East Street’ will be able to receive additional information about the projects using a QR code. The pavilion will also use an energy-efficient lighting system.

The region’s pavilion will be built in the form of two mountains: one will feature a model of the Mountain Air ski resort, which Trutnev says has every chance to become one of the best ski resorts in Russia and the Asia-Pacific region, while the other section will house a cafe. Local Sakhalin musicians will perform on a stage at the exposition.

The inside of the pavilion will be divided into six zones: investment projects; carbon neutrality and climate-related projects in the Sakhalin Region; the oil and gas industry; smart city and digitalization; socioeconomic development and national projects; and ‘Our Kurils’.

In the pavilion, Forum participants and guests of the exhibition will have an opportunity to learn about the region’s priority investment projects, environmental agenda, the implementation of national projects, the largest enterprises of the Sakhalin Region, the implementation of the Smart City project as well as the environmental and social projects of leading oil and gas companies.

The Sakhalin Region’s exposition will also present the Tourism Quadrosphere, which will showcase the region’s tourism potential. Special attention will be devoted to the Laguna Busse tourism and recreational area. All visitors will be able to take pictures with Dofleini the Octopus, an inhabitant of the northern waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Another feature of the exposition is the Healthy Bar at which EEF 2021 participants will be able to taste signature drinks: kombucha, nut milk, rejuvelac, and more.

The ‘Far East Street’ exhibition will be open to Forum participants on 24 September, residents and guests of Vladivostok will be able to visit it on 56 September, and 7 September will be a social day.
