The international ‘OFF WE GO!’ festival (held under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade with the support of the Industry Development Fund) became the official youth partner of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) this year. Thanks to the support of the GMIS and Roscongress teams, about 100 people were able to visit Yekaterinburg and take part in the Summit, including participants in the Innovation Theatre GMIS 2019 youth business platform, technological entrepreneurs, and students. In addition, the youth events were organised at the GMIS 2019 as part of the festival’s initiative. In particular, the Summit included a discussion about the global challenges that young people face in the era of digitalisation and Industry 4.0 and, as a consequence, the need for a new lifestyle that could become a guide for young people in a period when large-scale changes are taking place in their social, economic, and cultural lives.

One of the distinctive features of the discussion at the GMIS 2019 was that the speakers included young technological entrepreneurs, world-class experts, and participants in the Innovation Theatre GMIS 2019 youth business platform, who have organised their own start-ups and have experience implementing business projects. Such entrepreneurs include Izobyuro Invention Bureau Founder and Director of the Design Laboratory for the future Siberian Design Centre at Tomsk State University Ilya Sobol; Scanderm Scientific Director and Biogerontologist Vadim Leontyev; Nopilot.ai CEO Mikhail Melanin; Emplomate CEO Pavel Osadchuk; Stimul Group CEO Sergey Losev; Kopter Express Technology CEO Oleg Ponfilenok; VISITECH Development Director Sergey Bobylev; Lazertrek R&D Director Alexander Grishkanich; and ‘OFF WE GO!’ Development Director Yevgeny Sobolev. The discussion was moderated by SD Data CEO Vladimir Suvorov. Honorary guests at the event included representative of the GMIS Business Development Organising Committee Omar Al Dimashki; Director of the UNIDO Centre in the Russian Federation and Head of ITPO UNIDO Moscow Sergey Korotkov, Vice President of MED TV Zhivaya Planeta and UNIDO National Expert Svetlana Erkenova, and Strategic Partnership Adviser at Ural Federal University Alexander Burnasov.

The event participants placed special emphasis on a discussion of the challenges that state leaders, representatives of line ministries, entrepreneurs, and experts spoke about during business programme events at INNOPROM and the GMIS. Such challenges include growth in energy consumption, global changes in the labour market caused by the widespread introduction of technologies and automation of work processes, and the growing income gap between people of different social strata, among other issues.

In conclusion, the representatives of the GMIS Organising Committee represented by Olga Mamizheva, who was responsible for holding the event, and Omar Al Dimashki thanked the event organisers for the interesting discussion that was organised at the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit and told the participants in the ‘OFF WE GO!’ festival and Summit guests to not be afraid of realizing their dreams and to be more bold in implementing their ideas, including in matters concerning technological entrepreneurship, since there are no boundaries in the modern world and any dream can come true.
