Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation Anton
Kobyakov met with Ahmed Abdulrahman Al-Saati, Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Russian Federation. The
meeting addressed economic and cultural cooperation, as well as participation
of Bahraini delegation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
«Last year marked the 30th anniversary of diplomatic
relations between our country and the Kingdom of Bahrain. Cooperation between
our states is actively developing in many areas. Cooperation at such major
business events as the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will surely
strengthen existing ties and facilitate extension of our relations and further
development of business and cultural dialogue of Russia and Bahrain,» stated
Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of
the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum Organizing Committee Anton
Kobyakov.
In his turn, His Excellency Ahmed Abdulrahman Al-Saati
emphasized that Bahrain takes an interest in comprehensive development of
relations and strengthening ties between the two countries. He also noted the
important role of international business events in establishing a dialogue.
Thus, during SPIEF 2021 the Roscongress Foundation intends to sign a number of
cooperation agreements with Bahraini organizations, including Mumtalakat, the
sovereign wealth fund of the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the
Bahrain Economic Development Board.
Besides, the Kingdom of Bahrain may present ample
opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries at
its own stand at the Russian Energy Week. This international forum will take
place on 1316 October 2021.
Another topic of the meeting was the
use of Sputnik V, a Russian COVID-19 vaccine, which was registered and approved
for use in Bahrain in February 2021.
Ambassador Ahmed Abdulrahman Al-Saati noted that Bahrain is
interested in cooperating with Russia for localizing vaccine production: «As of
now, we have held talks with the Russian Direct Investment Fund and reached an
agreement in principle on launching the production of the Russian vaccine. In
order to achieve it, we plan to build a special medical centre in Bahrain
together with our Russian colleagues.»
