Key discussion themes determined for Russian-British Business Forum

The 4th Russian-British Business Forum (RBBF), the largest Russian business event in London, will take place on 26 November and provide a platform to discuss challenges and prospects for the development of economic relations between Russia and the United Kingdom and international organizations.

The theme of this year’s RBBF is ‘Partnership in Innovation’. Panel sessions and roundtables will focus on the development of trade and investment cooperation, interaction in various high technologies, and opportunities to promote the export of Russian inventions.

The RBBF will be attended by His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, FIDE President and Co-Chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation Arkady Dvorkovich, Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Vadim Zhivulin, Russian Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Maxim Parshin, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Ulyanovsk Region Governor Sergey Morozov, Russian Export Center CEO Andrey Slepnev, Agency for Strategic Initiatives CEO Svetlana Chupsheva, VimpelCom CEO Vasil Latsanich, and other speakers.

The RBBF is organized by the Trade Delegation of Russia in the UK with the support of the Roscongress Foundation and more than 30 Russian and international partners. The RBBF is held under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and brings together 800 representatives of the business community and development institutions from the two countries.

«Today innovation is required in all spheres of business. One of the most pressing priorities for Russia is the creation of an environment which facilities development in breakthrough technologies. International cooperation is becoming a significant factor in the formation and progress of national innovative systems and I strongly believe that the 4th Russian-British Business Forum will enhance cooperation between Russia and Great Britain, contributing to the increase of trade volume between our countries», said Russian Presidential Commissioner for Entrepreneurs’ Rights Boris Titov, one of the participants in the RBBF plenary session.

Russia and the United Kingdom are important foreign trade partners, as evidenced by a more than 20% increase in trade turnover in recent years. The service sector makes up four-fifths of the UK economy, promoting the import of various industrial and innovative products. Russia is currently promoting its export capacity at the international market. The RBBF plenary session ‘Development of the Russian Economy and Cooperation with Great Britain’ will focus on ways to increase cooperation between businesses working in the two countries.

Russian inventions, including Motorica VR/IoT rehabilitation platform and the latest machine vision technology of Center 2M, are expected to make their European launches at the RBBF.

The RBBF discussion programme will continue with panel sessions that will focus on such themes as ‘Innovations in Digital and Banking Services’, ‘Innovations and Technologies as a Factor of Export Development’, and ‘IT in Business, Industry, and Daily Life’. Representatives of the management of Sberbank of Russia, Yandex, the London Stock Exchange, IBM, Citi Group, PhosAgro, the Petropavlovsk Group of Companies, and the Polyplastic Group of Companies, among others, are expected to participate the sessions.

During the roundtable ‘Cooperation Between Creative Industries of Russia and the UK’, which will be moderated by Soyuzmultfilm Chairman of the Board Yuliana Slashcheva, the participants will discuss the present and future of national creative industries and share their experience in developing creative initiatives and international projects in animation.

Participants in the roundtable ‘Innovations in Prosthetics and Rehabilitation’, which will be moderated by Senior Adviser to the UK Department for International Trade M. Shiderov, will discuss the transfer of medical inventions to the global market as well as ways to unite players working in the rehabilitation industry and measures to increase the availability of new technologies for patients.
