On 27 March, #InThisTogether initiative started collecting funds for those
in need of help during the pandemic. The initiative is launched by the All-Russia Peoples Front,
the Association of Volunteer Centres, Medical Volunteers
(the all-Russian social movement of volunteers in the healthcare sector),
Volunteers of the Constitution, with support from the Roscongress Foundation. Medical Volunteers continue
collecting funds in their bank account, having amassed RUB 1,728,808,979 by
now.
Employees of over 191 organizations have donated their wages to
#InThisTogether initiative, collecting RUB 167,309,257 in total. Funds came
from the staff of Russian Railways, Rosseti, Inter RAO, Rosatom, Roscosmos,
ATEK, TGES, and others. They were joined by the staff of central and regional
election committees, ASCON, and All-Russian Thermal Engineering Institute.
The largest
contribution of RUB 155,260,533 came from the employees of Rosatom and its
structures. ASCON employees donated a share of their wages for April and May,
totalling RUB 374,000.
Volunteers
use these funds to purchase groceries for the elderly and people with limited
mobility. Additionally, the funds go towards medical professionals, medical and
social organizations, towards procuring protection ware for volunteers and
medical workers, and towards providing uninterrupted operations of volunteer
centres.
The Roscongress Foundation pays a great
deal of attention to social and charitable initiatives and promotes new formats
of social projects. Aside from launching the #InThisTogether round-the-clock
national hotline, the Foundation is helping doctors and other medical
professionals entangled in fighting the spread of COVID-19. The Roscongress
Foundation lends its media resources to various charitable concerts and
fundraisers. Additionally, the Foundation supports the St. Petersburg
Childrens Hospice and provides financing for the institution that found itself
in a difficult economic situation.
