The start of the 3rd
All-Russian Legal Dictation and a ceremony to present the national ‘Lawyer of
the Year’ award were held on 3 December at Zaryadye Concert Hall. The
festivities were organized by the Association of Lawyers of Russia with
information support from the Roscongress Foundation.
In a congratulatory message to the event’s participants, Russian
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said: «Your profession has always been well
regarded and respected. It requires the highest responsibility, careful
attention to each written line, and the constant expansion of your knowledge.
You do a lot to improve our country’s legislation and strengthen its legal
system. Protect the rights and interests of people, help them achieve justice, and
find a way out of the most difficult situations.»
The events
dedicated to the celebration of Lawyer’s Day at Zaryadye Concert Hall in Moscow
were attended by: Roscongress Foundation Chairman of the Board and CEO
Alexander Stuglev, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Lawyers of
Russia Vladimir Gruzdev, Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development and
Director of the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and
Cartography Victoria Abramchenko, Commissioner for Entrepreneurs’ Rights under
the Russian President Boris Titov, Kutafin Moscow State Law University Viktor
Blazheyev, Rossiyskaya Gazeta General Director Pavel Negoitsa, and First Deputy
Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan Andrey
Nazarov. They took part in the ceremonial opening of the 3rd
All-Russian Legal Dictation.
«The
All-Russian Legal Dictation is an important initiative that aims to enhance
people’s legal awareness and promote legal disciplines. This tradition enables
us to adequately assess the population’s level of legal culture and take the necessary
measures to develop legal proficiency,» Adviser to the Russian President Anton
Kobyakov said.
This year,
the dictation has become an international event. People can now take online
testing on the website www.юрдиктант.рф in both Russia and abroad. The
campaign will last until 10 December.
The Lawyer’s Day celebrations continued with a presentation of the
‘Lawyer of the Year’ award. The prize ‘For Contribution to Legal Science’ was
awarded to Yury Tikhomirov, Deputy Head of the Centre for Public Law Research
and Chief Researcher at the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under
the Government of the Russian Federation.
Roscongress
Foundation Chairman of the Board and CEO Alexander Stuglev and Chairman of the
Board of the Association of Lawyers of Russia Vladimir Gruzdev presented an award to Chairman of the State
Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes Andrey Makarov, who won the category
‘Development of Legislation’.
«Andrei Mikhailovich is a well-known
politician and statesman and one of the authors of the Tax Code of the Russian
Federation. It is a great honour for me to present this prestigious award to
him,» Stuglev said.
Yevgeny Gubin, Chair of the
Entrepreneurial Law Department in the Faculty of Law at Lomonosov Moscow State
University, won the prize in the category ‘Legal Education and Training’.
The prize in the category ‘For Human
Rights Activities’ was awarded to Andrey Nazarov, First Deputy Prime Minister
of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan, member of the Presidium of
the Association of Lawyers of Russia, and Chairman of the Board of the
Association’s Regional Branch for the Republic of Bashkortostan.
Chairman of
the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation and Co-Chair of the
Association of Lawyers of Russia Pavel Krasheninnikov won the prize in the
category ‘Legal Outreach’.
Alexey
Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Lyubov Shevchenko,
Professor of the Department for Legal Regulation in the Fuel and Energy
Industry at the International Institute for Energy Policy and Diplomacy at
Moscow State Institute of International Relations under the Russian Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, received the Valery Musin All-Russian Law Prize for their
contribution to the development of energy law.
The Oleg
Kutafin medal ‘For Merits in Jurisprudence’ was awarded to Chairman of the
Board of the Association of Lawyers of Russia Vladimir Gruzdev.
