Moscow hosted the third interdepartmental meeting to discuss preparations for the 16th Russia—Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum which has been an annual event since 2003. In 2019, the Forum will be hosted by Russia. Omsk is fully focused on giving a warm welcome to over 600 delegates from both countries who are expected to attend.

«Preparations for the Russia—Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum are in full swing and carried out to world-class standards. I am confident that the Forum participants will highly appreciate not only the technical excellence of the site and our extensive programme, but also the hospitality of Omsk as the host city. The range of topics that will be discussed at the Forum reflects the current agenda for enhanced interaction between our two countries,» said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.

The business programme events will be held on 6–7 November at Omsk’s Congress Hall, with the plenary session on Topical Issues Related to the Development of Cross-Border Cooperation named as the Forum’s key event. The Forum’s panels and a plenary session will be complemented by Russia—Kazakhstan Youth Forum. The exhibition themed High-Tech: Opportunities in Kazakhstani and Russian Regions will be another highlight of the Forum. The Forum’s cultural programme offers a gala dinner hosted for the Forum participants on 6 November by the Omsk Region Governor, and the Forum-sponsored Russia—Kazakhstan youth ice hockey exhibition game hosted by the Avangard Ice Hockey Academy.
