On December 16, 2016, during a working visit to Japan by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the signing ceremony took place for a memorandum of cooperation between the Roscongress Foundation and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) on the margins of the RussianJapanese Business Forum. The Roscongress Foundation was a partner in the organization of the Forum.
The memorandum communicates the intention of the two sides to work together in a number of areas, including the development of bilateral trade and investment and of effective communication between the business and expert communities in Russia and Japan. In particular, they plan to cooperate in providing information and advertising support for events held by the two organizations.
Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov noted that the memorandum will help to broaden and strengthen business relations between Russia and Japan overall, and also help to ensure a more active role for Japanese companies in key events planned by the Roscongress Foundation for 2017. The most prominent of these is the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF 2017), which will take place on September 67 in Vladivostok.
Furthermore, the memorandum opens up additional opportunities to exchange best practices in business, establish new business contacts, and develop long-term partnerships between the two countries business communities.
