The Roscongress team took the second place at the Sirius Cup international amateur ice hockey tournament held at the Shayba Arena, one of the venues of the 2014 Olympics. The team was formed from members of the Roscongress Sport Club, with Olympic ice hockey champion Sergey Svetlov as the head coach.
Following the draw, conducted by Evgeny Meites, General Director of the ANO Sport Сluster, our team's opponents in the group stage were Sirius, Shchit (Belarus), and MVSK (Uzbekistan). In the opening match, Rosсongress lost to Shchit 4:5. After that, our team beat MVSK 6:3 and Sirius 5:3 to advance to the semi-finals from the second place in the group.
In the semi-finals, Roscongress beat Premier Moscow 7:3 that won the other group. In the other semi-final match, Shchit beat Sochi's Olimp, 5:1.
The Belarusian team failed to get a rematch in the finals, with Shchit beating Rosсongress 6:1. In the match for the third place, Olimp beat Premier 5:0.
Roscongress Sport Club will also hold a series of corporate hockey matches in St. Petersburg during the 25th anniversary of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The format of a corporate hockey tournament, which could become part of the sports programme of the major economic forums, is being worked out. Practices for club members are held on a weekly basis.
