Campaign for the right to host the first-ever Games of the Future technological tournament will conclude in June. The host city will be presented at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. This announcement was made by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko.

"The great interest that Russian regions have shown to this project proves their readiness to be at the forefront of new sports competitions. It proves their eagerness to involve young people in innovative sports that combine science and technology. The short list of candidates for the right to hold the Games of the Future includes Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Kaluga, and Sirius federal territory. These regions have all the components necessary for a successful international event: quality sports infrastructure, accommodation facilities, and trained volunteers. These cities have experience holding large-scale events, including major sports competitions. The host city, chosen based on the results of the bidding campaign, will be announced at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June," said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

"The new generation athletes are equally confident in both physical and digital spaces. Many disciplines are changing with the advancement of new technologies, but one thing remains unchanged: in the development of sports we keep up with the times and speak the same language as the modern generation. Therefore, the Games of the Future is precisely the competition that will attract active young people to sports, preserving and promoting its true values – perseverance and will to win, honesty in achieving results, and teamwork. I am sure that the city selected by the expert committee will do a great job holding the first games and will set a new standard in organizing such events," said Oleg Matytsin, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation.

"The inspection visits are designed to check the cities' readiness to hold a unique and innovative tournament and to determine the capital of the first-ever Future Games. We are grateful to the leadership of the regions. All applications were thoroughly examined, we saw the venues for all disciplines of the tournament's sports programme," said Igor Stolyarov, founder of the Games of the Future project.

Games of the Future is a new sporting event on an international scale, a technological tournament for innovative sports in which athletes use technical devices, elements of digital reality, and physical activity.

The application campaign for the venue of the first Games of the Future in Russia was launched by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko in November 2021. More than 40 regions have expressed their desire to host the tournament, and 19 of them have sent the application package to the organizers. According to the results of the selection stage a short list of candidates was formed.

The working group on preparation for the Games of the Future conducted inspection visits, during which they examined sports facilities and urban infrastructure. Additionally, they assessed the readiness of the cities to provide all the necessary services for the guests and participants of the large-scale international tournament.
