The international community of thought leaders and entrepreneurs, Friends for Leadership, will present sustainable development projects at the 6th Eastern Economic Forum held on 2–4 September in Vladivostok.
“We are pleased to invite the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs, Friends for Leadership, who implement innovative projects aimed at fulfilling the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals, to work at the venue of the Eastern Economic Forum. The participants' initiatives will help attract in-demand new ideas and technologies to Russia and will be scalable to many countries in the Asia-Pacific Region”, said Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee of the Eastern Economic Forum.
The new realities of the post-crisis world order will be discussed by 50 young thought leaders from more than 20 countries who were selected through a United Nations-sponsored competition, together with their partners the Roscongress Foundation, the United Nations Information Centre in Moscow, UN Office 75, TV-BRICS and the Centre for International Promotion.
The Forum will showcase projects on topics such as climate and nature conservation, post-crisis recovery, and innovations in education, science and technology. Projects should be at the implementation stage and have the potential to be scaled up in Russia.
Friends for Leadership community members will participate in the EEF 2021 business programme and youth programme sessions and will meet with potential investors among Russian and international leaders in business and finance.
In addition, preparations for the Forum will include a series of events with foreign partners at overseas venues using the resources and capabilities of Friends for Leadership as well as those of the Roscongress Foundation and Rossotrudnichestvo, which is a partner in the participation of the community of thought leaders and entrepreneurs at EEF, as part of the New Generation programme.
Friends for Leadership is a permanent international pool of young leaders involved in promoting multilateral economic and humanitarian projects. The project was launched in 2018 through the Centre for International Promotion of National Initiatives (Ruspromo) and the Roscongress Foundation at SPIEF. It now brings together project teams from over 100 countries who are working on scaling up their projects in 22 groups, including the 17 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
In 2019, 25 Friends for Leadership leaders and entrepreneurs from India, Japan, the USA, Republic of Korea, Uruguay, Switzerland, Nigeria and Russia participated in EEF events.
