Comprehensive system for shipping Russian goods abroad set to launch in early 2021

Комплексная система доставки российских товаров за рубеж появится уже в начале следующего года

General Director of the Russian Export Center Veronika Nikishina has announced that a comprehensive system for shipping Russian goods is set to launch early next year. Nikishina was speaking at the Made in Russia Forum, which took place on 9 December. She went on to remark that fundamentally new logistics products would become available. «We have already begun this endeavour together with Russian Post and Russian Railways, and are already starting to see results,» she said.

«Russian Post is working to provide services aimed at greatly simplifying an exporter’s path to the customer in terms of logistics. One such example is a fulfilment complex, which offers the ability to send goods abroad. In the first quarter of 2021 we are planning to launch a pilot project enabling fast land-based deliveries to be made. A shipment from Moscow to Berlin will take less than 36 hours. It will also be possible to undergo customs clearance at a terminal operated by our subsidiary RusPost GmbH, and have a package delivered to the customer’s door in Europe. We are aware that it is becoming increasingly important to the customer that deliveries arrive quickly. Even an international shipment should take no longer than a week to arrive. And we are helping sellers meet this need,» said Maxim Akimov, General Director of Russian Post.

E-commerce enables a foreign consumer to learn about Russian goods without having to enter into a lengthy coordination process with retail groups. What’s more, the development of high-quality content can help make products more attractive to the consumer. Nevertheless, general delivery time standards must be adhered to when entering a market. And unless goods are imported in the target market in some quantity, it is incredibly challenging to achieve this.

«A virtual store is not restricted by borders. And we need to develop new routes in addition to established ones like Europe and China. Vietnam and the UAE, for example, have already opened national stores. In the coming year, we will look to boost synergy as we promote Russian goods and open online stores in these countries. We therefore need to develop our logistics for these promising routes too, so that our exporters can ship their products quicker and cheaper,» concluded Nikishina.

The Made in Russia International Export Forum took place on 9 December in Moscow. It was organized by the Russian Export Center and the Roscongress Foundation. The main theme of this year’s event was «Challenges of the new decade».
