President of the United World Wrestling (UWW) Nenad Lalovich and Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov discussed preparations for the World Championship in Greco-Roman, freestyle and women's wrestling, which Ufa is to host in the summer of 2021. The Russian Cup for the head of Bashkortostan prizes will be a test tournament scheduled in Ufa on 9–11 October. The Russian Cup will be the first Greco-Roman wrestling tournament since the outbreak of the pandemic. For the Russian national team, it will be a preparation stage for the World Wrestling Championship, which is planned for December in Serbia. RCSport, the Roscongress Foundation’s sporting platform, is the operator of the World Junior Championship and the Russian Cup in Ufa.

Nenad Lalovich and Radiy Khabirov spoke over the phone when Mikhail Mamiashvili, the UWW Vice-President, President of the Russian Wrestling Federation, paid an inspection visit to Ufa.

"Nenad Lalovich highly appreciated what has been accomplished and the development dynamics of wrestling in Bashkortostan, noting the importance of accommodating youth sports, as well as socializing and strengthening international youth ties through sports and wrestling. The World Junior Championship is at the heart of wrestling development programme in Bashkortostan implemented on the initiative of the head of the region Radiy Khabirov. Last year, Radiy Faritovich presented it at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, speaking at the 'Sports for Everyone: Global Trends and Entrepreneurial Approach' session. The programme has already equipped dozens of wrestling halls in schools, it is planned to create a martial arts centre, and students from schools and universities are actively involved in the sport of wrestling,” said Georgy Bryusov, Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation, head of the UWW 'Sports for Everyone' committee.

Notably, Russia will host the World Junior Wrestling Championship for the first time.
