The
Roscongress Foundation, the Innovation Space project and the independent
non-profit organisation Data Economy are set to launch a new project entitled
Breakfast in the Digital Realm which will draw on the topical themes of the
Digital Economy national programme and take the form of online discussions with
state and business representatives. The first round of discussions will take
place on 7 May at 9:00. Experts and market leaders will discuss the
Internet of Things as a ‘cure’ for the economic effects of coronavirus over
their morning cup of coffee.
The
quarantine measures adopted all over the world in response to the spread of
coronavirus have led to radical changes not only to our everyday lives and
habits but to the economy as a whole. Industry, agriculture and other sectors
are looking for ways to adapt to ‘people-less’ scenarios. For many of them,
digital transformation has become a kind of black swan event. The need to
create fundamentally new infrastructure communication networks, on which the
Internet of Things will be launched, has never been so critical.
In 2019, the framework to create narrowband wireless IoT communication networks in Russia was approved by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation. The framework outlined five main sectors:
- Housing and public utilities
- Industry 4.0
- Healthcare
- Agriculture
- Transport and logistics
Is the
framework still relevant, and how have sector-specific demands for
communication networks changed in light of the pandemic? Can the Internet of
Things help save industry, agriculture and other sectors? Will coronavirus
accelerate the spread of 5G in Russia?
You can
find out the answers to these along with many other questions during the
Breakfast in a Digital Environment session on 7 May between 9:00 and 10:30.

- Andrei Kolesnikov, Director of the Internet of Things Association
