«We shall always stand with families whose children are suffering from grave, incurable diseases. We stand with them so that together we can overcome adversity, provide support during painful moments, and help all family members live a full life, speak to one another, and value each and every day.»
The Roscongress Foundation, together with its partner RC Event
Management, are taking steps to support people in need in St. Petersburg during
the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the past two years, the Foundation has supported the St. Petersburg
Childrens Hospice, and despite the current crisis, is continuing to provide
financial aid. In turn, RC Event Management has launched a programme to support
multi-child families in the city.
«Care, charity, and social responsibility are not empty words or a show
of bravado they are our duty,» said Alexander Stuglev, Chairman of the Board
and Chief Executive Officer of the Roscongress Foundation.
The St. Petersburg Childrens Hospice was the first institution of its
kind to open in Russia. Its history dates back to 2003, when people would come
to the St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral in the hope that they would get help for
their gravely ill children. Today, it incorporates several organizations
providing palliative care, as well as social, psychological, and spiritual
support for children and family members.
Patients at the hospice are among the most vulnerable people in the
city, and rely the most on help from society. As the economic situation has
worsened as a result of the coronavirus and the self-isolation measures put in
place, these people have begun to suffer.
The hospices management has already had to close one facility in the
district of Olgino and reduce pay to its workers. The hospice is temporarily
unable to accept volunteers, and medical professionals, psychologists, and
social workers are going above and beyond their usual duties to run leisure and
developmental activities for the children. Staff members at the hospice are
doing everything they can to preserve the quality of life of the children in
their care, as well as of family members.
Today, the hospice needs money to pay for doctors, psychologists, and
other specialists. Its expenses also include food, medicine, and sanitary goods
for patients at its facilities and at home. In addition, protective masks and
disinfectants are needed.
RC Event Management has provided 48 food parcels to multi-child families
in need across St. Petersburg. «We now need to all come together. We cannot
stand by and abandon those who are in a difficult situation. The decision we
have taken is about collective support and sending out the message that we are
united. We would like to invite everyone to join us. Today it is more important
than ever to do what we can to help,» said Ilya Kuznetsov, General Director of
RC Event Management.
The Roscongress Foundation is glad to welcome anyone who wishes to join
initiatives run by the organization and its partners, and to help multi-child
families and people in need.
