The Roscongress Foundation has published a digest examining regional
best practices in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. Experience
from 34 Russian regions has been collated in the report.
Steps are currently being taken at the very highest level to protect
small and medium-sized enterprises. In an address to parliament, President of
the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin said that entrepreneurs would receive
direct and free financial aid from the state. As a result, 75% of salary
credits will be guaranteed by VEB.
«Each region is taking its own approach to dealing with the COVID-19
pandemic. However, shared economic processes and overarching trends mean that a
regions unique experience could be rolled out to benefit other parts of
Russia. That is
precisely the reasoning behind the Roscongress Foundations expert group
focusing on the regions. The group holds regular meetings with regional
representatives, heads of national government bodies and development
institutions, renowned experts, and business leaders. The most effective economic
mechanisms employed by the Russian regions will be permanently published in the
Best Regional Practices section of the Roscongress website,» said Chairman of
the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Roscongress Foundation
Alexander Stuglev.
The digest complements the work done as part of the Roscongress Foundations initiative. A number of expert groups have been tasked with facilitating dialogue and the exchange of experience between regions. Since work began on the project, regional representatives have examined ways to increase exports from the regions, employ technology to support small and medium-sized enterprises, increase labour productivity, and implement strategies for attracting investment in the Russian regions. The digest can be read in full on the official Roscongress website.
