Фонд Росконгресс подвел аналитические итоги Экономического форума Россия – Африка

The ROSCONGRESS.ORG Information and Analytical System published a special issue of the Roscongress Insider dedicated to the outcomes of the Russia—Africa Summit and Economic Forum. This report was prepared by experts from the Roscongress Foundation and the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences together with TASS Russian News Agency.

The study emphasizes that the first ever Russia—Africa Summit and Economic Forum that took place on 23–24 October 2019 in Sochi became historic events both for Russia and the African continent.

«The Summit laid the foundation for developing and strengthening the cooperation with African countries in trade, economic, cultural and social spheres. Implementing the plans proposed during the event takes teamwork and continuous cooperation among all the stakeholders. In order to maintain this dialogue, we plan to make the Russian-African cooperation agenda part of all the key events, including the business programme of the St. Petersburg International and Eastern Economic Forums,» noted Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.

The Roscongress Insider report provides a detailed description of the competencies Russia can share with its African partners. According to the study, they include the expansion of Russian financial institutions in the countries that plan for or already implement Russian investment projects; developing raw materials processing in African countries (through joint ventures alongside other options); increasing exports of agricultural produce, machinery and fertilizers; starting up energy-related projects; upgrading transport infrastructure, and fighting crime. The study puts a special emphasis on the social cooperation, especially in health care and education. These are the areas with the most history and experience.

«Endeavours of the African Agenda 2063 are consistent with our goals, while the framework programmes under the African Union open up opportunities for Russia’s participation in their implementation. However, that would require a clear mechanism for our economic cooperation, and primarily forms of financial cooperation between Russian and African private and government-owned companies,» noted Irina Abramova, Director of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Member of the Presidium of the RAS, Corresponding Member of the RAS, Doctor of Economics, Professor.
