The Roscongress Sport Club has opened its winter season of friendly hockey matches. White and red teams made up of members of economic forums, political and business leaders, prominent athletes, and artists took to the ice at the Spartak Academy complex.
Two-time Olympic hockey champion Alexander Kozhevnikov and the captains of the red and white teams — State Duma Deputy Chairman Sergey Neverov and Moscow Sports Department Director Alexey Kondarantsev — took part in the face-off ceremony. The award ceremony was led by Roscongress Foundation CEO Alexander Stuglev.
The red team won the game 8–7. Alexey Kondarantsev scored five goals. The winners were also recognized by Rotex President Yevgeny Romaskevich, Spartak Hockey Academy Director Alexander Boykov, and RK Service Deputy CEO Peter Kovalev. Other notable players on the red team included Ust-Luga Universal Trading Terminal CEO Alexey Zharkov, World Hockey Championship prize winner Alexander Guskov, and four-time champion of Russia and three-time winner of the Gagarin Cup Igor Shchadilov.
Football player Dmitry Sychev scored two goals for the white team. Sergey Neverov, Russian State Social University Rector Natalya Pochinok, Uma2rman bass player Sergey Kristovsky, OKO-Film General Producer Alexander Morozov, and five-time champion of Russia and two-time winner of the Gagarin Cup Alexander Stepanov scored one goal each. The white team also included theatre and film actor Marat Basharov and Russian champion Yury Butsayev.
«Hockey Day was celebrated just a few days ago, on 1 December. People who love this sport and who get a boost of energy and enjoyment from hockey in their free time, which they don’t have much of, all got together here. I would like to thank everyone for the game, especially the organizers. It turned out to be a very good match», Neverov said.
«Regardless of the score, we are all winners because we find time in our daily hustle and bustle to get together on the ice and play sports. It’s crucial that such ice complexes are being built, and I would like to say thanks to the people who invest in hockey and sports, organize matches like these, and promote our favourite sport in doing so», Kondarantsev said.
«Friendly hockey matches, which have become a regular thing at economic forums, will be held in Moscow on a regular basis. In addition, in the near future we will present the hockey training format, which will be run by prominent coaches and players», Roscongress Foundation Deputy CEO Georgy Bryusov said.
