Among the events place taking place during Russian Energy Week will be a panel session on 3 October entitled EnergyNet 2.0: Priorities, Outlook, Opportunities.

Invitees to the session include Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation on Digital and Technological Development Dmitry Peskov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation’s Committee on Energy Valery Seleznev, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Pavel Sorokin, Director General of Rosseti Pavel Livinsky, Deputy Chairman of the Board of System Operator of the United Power System Fedor Opadchiy, and Head of Project Center for Innovation Development at the Strategic Research Center Foundation and Deputy Head of the Working Group at the Energynet National Technology Initiative Dmitry Kholkin. Moderating the session will be Oleg Grinko, Working Group Co-Head at Energynet NTI.

The EnergyNet National Technology Initiative (NTI) aims to develop smart energy services, and has been marked out as a priority in the government’s policy to develop industries of the next technological wave and secure Russia’s foothold in the markets of the future. A roadmap to achieving these goals is currently being implemented on several levels simultaneously. At the government level, this includes steps to improve the regulatory framework in order to simplify interaction between public bodies and innovative businesses.

“Thanks to the National Technology Initiative, we have been able to begin work on a vital endeavour in our country aimed at developing a framework for the future of energy. It is an absolutely critical issue, because individual technical solutions are of little use to anyone – we need comprehensive solutions which can be integrated into businesses,” said Dmitry Kholkin.

Participants at the panel session will discuss what has already been achieved in the implementation of the EnergyNet National Technology Initiative roadmap, what new technological trends have emerged in global energy markets, what challenges these trends pose to the Russian energy sector, and other pressing issues concerning digital energy today.
