By order No.
1503 of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart),
the Technical Committee for Standardisation on Exhibition, Fair and Congress
Activities (hereinafter — Technical Committee) was established in July 2019.
The main aims of the Technical Committee include
participation in the program of development of national standards for exhibition, fair and congress activities and control over the
implementation of the program; examination of offers for applying international
and regional standards on national and multinational levels; carrying out
scientific and technical expert reviews, legal and regulatory examinations, and
submitting them for approval to the national standards body.
The Russian Convention Bureau
has joined the Technical Committee and plans to participate in its work
actively, since it highly appreciates the importance of quality services
provided in the framework of the national meeting industry and a need for introduction
of a standardisation system in the industry.
«Establishment of the
Technical Committee for Standardisation on Exhibition, Fair and Congress
Activities was initiated by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian
Federation, since currently there is no clear legal framework to regulate this
field; in particular, a Federal Law on Exhibition, Fair and Congress Activities
the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is working on with the
participation of the branch community has not been developed yet.
Until the end of 2019
exhibition, fair and congress GOSTs (State Standards) will be reviewed and
updated if necessary, and development of new national standards will be started
within the competence of each of the four sub-committees within activities of
the Technical Committee. We expect it to allow us improving the quality of
works and services provided in this market,» Vladimir Dmitriev, Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce
and Industry of the Russian Federation, said.
Alexey Kalachev, Director of the Russian Convention Bureau, said: «Quality of provided services is one of key drivers of
development of congress activities. Participants of business events must get
services up to the world standards; otherwise they’ll just go to other
countries. Service is always an important element when creating impression
about an event, as well as about a host country in general; besides, it
influences the destination brand directly. That’s why we consider establishment
of the Technical Committee another step toward improvement of the quality of
services in exhibition, fair and congress activities, which will have a
positive impact on development of the industry in general.»
In addition, 15 member
companies of the Russian Convention Bureau joined the Technical Committee for
Standardisation on Exhibition, Fair and Congress Activities of the Russian
Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
