On 10 July, the results of Mohammed Bin Rashid’s Prosperity Initiative Global Maker Challenge at GMIS 2019 were announced.

During the ceremony acknowledging the finalists who made the greatest contribution to the resolution of real problems facing mankind, a representative of the Organizing Committee said: «Today’s finalists are producers who have created new opportunities for everyone in the world, and we admire their activities.

The finalist in the first category, «Sustainable Energy: how to provide millions of people in rural and remote areas with access to low-carbon electricity?» was A2P Energy Solution. Their solution for collecting straw, processing it, and producing fuel pellets, will create the smallest amount of CO2 emissions.

The winner in the «Digital Gap and Computer Literacy: how can people who live in remote areas get reliable and inexpensive access to the Internet?» category was The Rumie Initiative, which provided innovative technology for accessing online training.

TruTrade took the prize in the third category: «Transformation Rural Areas and ‘Zero Hunger’: How can farmers in less developed countries increase the productivity of food and commercial crops by employing modern ecological agriculture and conservation methods?» with its online platform that makes it possible for small farmers to come together and bring their products to market.

The finalist in the fourth category «Sustainable Cities: how can cities use technology to combat the spread of infectious diseases and prevent a new pandemic?» was GARY with its proposal to install sanitary cabins capable of providing sanitary security in cities. The economic success of this solution stems from the scalability of its services.

Finalists received the prestigious Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Prosperity Award in the amount of USD 100,000, and the 12 competition laureates received USD 10,000 each.

Global Maker Challenge competitions are not only prize money but also provide access to professional mentors and the opportunity to work together with leading international organisations. The global prosperity initiative brings together a community of «creators» seeking to resolve the most complex social problems affecting the lives of more than a billion people around the globe.
