GMIS-2019 business programme published

The programme for the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS-2019), which will be held on 9–11 July in Yekaterinburg, includes about 40 business events in various formats, such as panel sessions, dialogues with leaders, blitz sessions, business breakfasts and others.

The main topic of GMIS-2019 is nature-inspired technologies (bionic design and bionics) and their effective implementation in production and economic processes.

«Today, the world is on the threshold of a new industrial revolution. Sustainable development of manufacturing and high technologies is a prerequisite for success of the modern economy. We expect the discussions at the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit to contribute to developing effective ways of achieving the goals of universal sustainable industrial development», said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.

During the opening ceremony of the Summit, the participants will be addressed by Badr Al-Olama, Chairman of the GMIS Organising Committee, and Dmitry Kozak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

The official opening will also include a panel discussion «The New Era of Manufacturing: Manufacturing, Nature-Inspired Technology and their Role on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development». Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Industry of the United Arab Emirates, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Li Yong and Minister for Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov are expected to participate in the session.

«GMIS is a unique platform for discussing the global manufacturing agenda and trends of global industrial development, which will give additional impetus to the expansion of international cooperation ties in the region. The Global Summit will include the panel session ‘Adapting Industrial Policies for a Digital World for Economic Diversification and National Structural Transformation’, which will address the modernization and qualitative renewal of the digital agenda of manufacturing companies,» said the Russian Minister of Industry and Trade.

The Summit will host a number of significant events, including a special multiplatform session to present best practices in environmental and economic efficiency; the Russian Export Center business breakfast and the award ceremony for the winners of the Global Marker Challenge contest focusing on finding achievements that have a positive impact on global prosperity.

GMIS will also feature discussions on topics such as digital transformation and green technologies, smart cities, low-carbon production, industrial automation safety, robotics and artificial intelligence.

The Forum’s speakers include representatives of Russian and foreign authorities, leaders of world and domestic companies, along with scientists and experts in the field of industrial production. Among them are Mubadala Development Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Al-Hammadi, Senior Minister of Industry and Handicrafts of Cambodia Cham Prasidh, Senaat Holding Corporation CEO Jamal Salem Al-Dhaheri, Liyu Group President Wang Yuefeng, Chief of Staff of the United Nations Global Compact Melissa Powell, Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM Director General Alexey Likhachev, and Kurchatov Institute National Research Centre President Mikhail Kovalchuk.
