At 1 p.m. on
December 11 RIA Novosti will held a press conference of the
Russian Convention Bureau (RCB), which was created in November 2017 with
support of the Government of the Russian Federation for the purpose of
implementing the state policy in the sphere of effective development of the
event industry of the country and its integration into the global meetings
industry.
The key objective of the RCB is to facilitate implementation of
strategic goals and national objectives of the Russian Federation, attract a
larger number of international congress events to the country and to shape a
positive image of Russia as a country with a favorable business and investment
climate through support and development of the national event industry.
In its first year, the Russian Convention Bureau has already
demonstrated excellent results. The RCB helped bring to Russia 4 major
international events, with the total economic effect of these events totaling
some RUB 5 billion, with the expected amount of tax payments at more than RUB
550 million. Twelve applications to hold international events have been
submitted and are currently in the process of consideration. The total budget
of these events is RUB 4 billion. Since these events are expected to
attract 16,700 people, the additional economic effect may exceed RUB 2.6
billion.
The press conference will focus on key achievements and report
indicators of the RCB and announce the upcoming projects of the Russian
Convention Bureau aimed at promoting the event potential of Russia’s
constituent regions on the international market of business events.
The founders of the Russian Convention Bureau are: ROSCONGRESS
Foundation, JSC Russian Export Center, International Foundation of Technologies
and Investments and R&C Research and Exhibition Center.

- Aleksei Kalachev, Director of the Russian Convention Bureau;
- Alexander Stuglev, Chairman of the Board, Russian Convention Bureau, Director of ROSCONGRESS Foundation;
- Darya Ostrovskaya, member of the Board of the Russian Convention Bureau, General Director of R&C Research and Exhibition Center;
- Sergey Selivanov, head of the Exhibition Section, Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
