When sanctions and countermeasures affect a large part of Russian business, issues of corporate senior management responsibility become even more important to corporate lawyers. This will be the theme of a roundtable discussion of the 10th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum to be held from 29 June to 1 July 2022.
Participants of the roundtable will discuss pressing issues for businesses, including the problem of sanctions compliance, the responsibility of company management to retain business in the new environment, and interaction with state authorities during inspections concerning the use of obtained business support measures.
The experts will discuss the responsibility of senior executives in connection with the anti-sanctions legislation and the emergence of new functions, tasks, and benchmarks. The issue of the senior executives’ responsibility for preserving the business will also be considered: how to operate under the new conditions, how to link the economic measures taken by the companies with the need to take into account the challenges facing the country, including preserving production facilities and jobs.
Participants will also discuss how to link intra-company restructuring and getting support measures, while avoiding subsequent risks during audits by the auditing authorities with regard to the use of the benefits and preferential loans received.
The session will be moderated by Alexandra Nesterenko, President of Russian Corporate Counsel Association.
«Russian corporations need new legal guidelines in today’s environment, and we will certainly try to formulate them in our discussion. The Association is helping to build a strong legal foundation for further work», she said.
As a reminder, the 10th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum will return to its traditional — face-to-face — format for the first time in two years. The main theme has been adopted — Staying Within the Law, while the theme of the plenary session will be Law in a Multipolar World.
