Legal Sovereignty as a Guarantee of National Security Session is included in the business programme of the 10thanniversary of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum which will be held from 29 June to 1 July. This session is a part of “Law in International Relations”.
The Russian legal system, built on the basis of traditional values, established legal concepts and principles of law, is the legal framework of the state.
In today’s global challenges and external sanctions pressure, law is called upon to find answers to complex issues of the current time. The sovereignty of the state includes not only political, economic displays, but also legal ones.
Experts will discuss how legal sovereignty can guarantee national security and what threats are expected to be prepared for. They will also consider what legal systems will be in the nearest future.
"Our task is to create such a legal foundation that will contribute to the society development, providing the opportunity for constructive cooperation with other countries. In our time, new legal mechanisms and tools should be created for engagement and resolution of disputes between representatives of different jurisdictions. Professionals must be able to find a common language with each other, understanding their own interests and respecting the interests of others. Dialogue should be mutually respectful and equal. But such equality and self-respect cannot be achieved unless a solid foundation of national jurisdiction is built, which allows protecting the interests of the state and basic human rights,” notes Vladimir Gruzdev, Session Moderator, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Lawyers of Russia.
It should be reminded that the main theme of the Forum was “Staying Within the Law”. The theme of the plenary session will be Law in a Multipolar World.
