The Republic of Crimea has a unique geographical location, placed on the Crimean Peninsula, which is connected to the mainland by the narrow 30-kilometer Perekop Isthmus, within which the region borders with Ukraine.

The Republic has no direct land communication with the Russian mainland.

The economy of the Republic of Crimea is quite diversified. The branches of specialization are sanatorium-resort and tourist complexes, agriculture, food production, winemaking, fishing, production of goods of inorganic chemistry (soda, salt, titanium dioxide), shipbuilding.

The dominant economic activities of the region are:

• industry;
• agriculture;
• trade;
• tourism.

In the Strategy of Socio-economic Development of the Republic of Crimea until 2030, the strategic goals are to achieve a high level of human capital development, create an innovative and attractive investment economy.

The main factors of the investment attractiveness of the Republic include:

• mechanisms for stimulating the development of business and investment activities in the territory of Crimea: the free economic zone and the procedure for considering investor appeals. These support mechanisms provide for a number of benefits and preferences (tax and customs benefits, the provision of land and property for rent without bidding);
• support institutions for investors, small and medium-sized businesses;
• supervision of members of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea on large-scale investment projects, depending on the volume of investment.
