The Orenburg region is located at the junction of two parts of the world — Europe and Asia, has borders with Tatarstan, Bashkortostan and the Chelyabinsk region in the north, with Kazakhstan-in the east and south, and the Samara region-in the west.

It has an extensive transport system, which includes enterprises of railway, automobile, air and pipeline transport. Transit cargo and passenger flows in the direction of «Center — Central Asia» and «West — East» pass through the region.

• gas and oil refining industry;
• chemical and petrochemical industry;
• light and food industry;
• production of building materials.

The region is engaged in the cultivation of wheat of strong and hard varieties, sunflower. Animal husbandry of the meat and dairy direction, poultry farming have been developed. They breed downy goats.
