The Bryansk Region is located in Central Russia, southwest of Moscow, on the border with Ukraine and Belarus, and is part of the Central Federal District.

The results of the social and economic development of the Bryansk region indicate a moderate growth in the main sectors of the economy.

The region is characterized by a developed agriculture, glass industry and the production of a variety (various) of building materials.

The dominant economic activities of the region are:

— metalworking;
— production of building materials;
— light and food industry;
— forest (timber) industry and woodworking.

The mission of the long-term socio-economic development of the Bryansk region is to form a developed economy based on high-tech industries, high-tech services, and an environmentally friendly agro-industrial complex that provides (ensuring) a growing quality of life for people.

The competitive advantages of the Bryansk Region are largely due to :

— high natural-resource, scientific-technical and cultural potential;
— favorable location on the border of the three states and the intersection of transport arteries;
— a favorable climate.
