Banca Intesa is a Russian subsidiary bank of Intesa Sanpaolo Group, one of the top banking groups in the euro zone.

Intesa Sanpaolo is leader in Italy in all business areas (retail, corporate e wealth management) and ranks first in Italy in loans (market share 17%) and deposits (18.8%), asset management (22%) and pension funds (23,2%).

As of June 30, 2020, the total assets of Intesa Sanpaolo Group amounted to EUR 858,6 billion. The volume of the granted loans is EUR 403,3 billion, while direct deposits from the banking business amounted to EUR 437,8 billion, and direct deposits from the insurance business and the technical reserves amounted to EUR 163,9 billion. The Group’s equity is EUR 58,5 billion.

Branches and representative offices of Intesa Sanpaolo serve 19 million customers in 37 countries. In Italy, Intesa Sanpaolo serves 11.8 million customers through more than 3680 branches, which make up the country’s most extensive branch network.

In Russia, the Representative Office of Intesa Sanpaolo has been operating for 47 years. The Group serves more than half of the foreign trade transactions between Russia and Italy. In addition, it participates in the financing of large national and international Russian projects.

The history of Banca Intesa dates back to 1992, when the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development set up the KMB Bank. It was one of the first Russian banks to focus on financing for small and medium enterprises, which was just emerging in Russia in the middle of the nineties.

At the beginning of 2005, the Italian Banking Group Intesa Sanpaolo, reinforcing its Russian market presence, acquired a controlling stake in the KMB Bank. As a result of this deal, Intesa Sanpaolo became one of the major foreign investors in the Russian banking sector.

The Bank acquired the corporate name Banca Intesa in January 2010 following the incorporation of the Group’s subsidiary bank of the same name, established by Intesa Sanpaolo in 2003 and focused on financing large Russian companies and Italian firms working in the Russian market. Banca Intesa was the first Russian bank to be wholly owned by an Italian bank.

In accordance with the IFRS as of December 31, 2019, the Bank achieved assets amounting to RUB 65 bln, capital totaling RUB 13.3 bln.

Banca Intesa offers a full range of banking services for small and medium businesses, private and corporate clients. The main activities of the Bank are corporate loans and loans to small and medium-sized enterprises: business loans, overdraft, refinancing, leasing vehicles, machinery and equipment, payroll projects, deposits, business mortgages, cash management services.

Regional branch network of the bank covers 21 Russian regions from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok.
