The 6th Eastern Economic Forum was attended by representatives of Friends for Leadership, an international community of next-generation leaders and entrepreneurs.

Participants from more than 20 Asia-Pacific countries came to Vladivostok, selected following a competition held under the auspices of the UN together with partners represented by the Roscongress Foundation, the UN Information Centre in Moscow, UN Office-75, TV BRICS, and the Russian Center for Promotion of International Initiatives, as well as under the presidential programme New Generation by Rossotrudnichestvo.

"We widely welcome the participation of international leaders, selected by the UN, to promote sustainable international development and successful and locally proven practices in Russia, the EAEU and the Asia-Pacific region. We will continue to support the work of this community, so we invite concerned young people to join this work to make the world a better place," said Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of Russia and Executive Secretary of the EEF Organizing Committee.

Young leaders at the Forum presented their sustainable development projects for the period until 2030, as well as ideas for local post-crisis recovery. As part of their work at EEF 2021, delegates met with the head of Rossotrudnichestvo, Evgeny Primakov, to talk about their initiatives with the potential for scaling up in the Russian Federation and CIS countries.

The participants from Friends for Leadership were also met by the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas of the Republic of India, Hardeep Singh Puri, who praised the projects presented by the leaders and invited them to come to India to network with Indian entrepreneurs.

The young leaders also had a business lunch with the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander Sergeyev, to whom they presented their scientific and technological projects. During the meeting, the parties agreed to cooperate with Friends of Science, a Friends for Leadership group, to support youth science councils' activities around the world.

An extensive programme for Friends for Leadership participants was also held at the Roscongress Foundation venues. As part of the Trust Space, in-house project sessions were organized, as well as a joint session with VEB.RF State Corporation, which involved online initiative project groups in the Russian regions, as well as several foreign Friends for Leadership participants.

One of the key sessions of the Forum's business programme was dedicated to Friends for Leadership, during which Alexander Stuglev, Chairman of the Board and Director of the Roscongress Foundation, representatives of the EEF Organizing Committee, and leading experts discussed the importance of international events for public diplomacy.
