2–5 June 2021 St.
Petersburg International Economic Forum will host the first Creative
Business Forum. The purpose of the Forum is to bring together
representatives of government and business with the leaders of the creative
community. Forum will discuss the development of the industry in Russia and
worldwide, as well as try to formulate common objectives and create a platform
for a three-way dialogue.
“The year of creative economy is upon us. It is
especially important that St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which
has become a key platform for dialogue between business and government, will
feature a programme that includes leading representatives of creative
industries. This sector has been rapidly developing in recent years, attracting
considerable investments from leading Russian companies. I am confident that
the Creative Business Forum will give an additional impetus to the development
of these industries in Russia and will determine the necessary measures of
support from the government,” said Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the
President of the Russian Federation, Executive Secretary of the SPIEF
Organizing Committee.
The Creative Business
Forum will present a plan for the development of the aforementioned industries
in Russia, taking into account international best practices and technologies.
Experts will provide guidelines for politicians, scientists, and entrepreneurs
on how to work with the creative industries and present their ideas and
projects. “The programme of the Forum will cover relevant issues: from creation
of creative clusters and female entrepreneurship to modern innovative education
and attraction of investments into creative economy,” said Elena Marinina,
Director of Innosocium Foundation and Creative Business Forum.
The key event of the Creative Business Forum is
a talk-show "Why do I need creative industries?" that will be held in
the World Cafe format, which is considered to be one of the most effective
methods of dialogue. It aims to formulate the relevant definition of both
creative industries and creative class, as well as to define their influence on
the development of cities, communication platforms, and communities.
Ministry of Industry and
Trade of Russia, a strategic partner of the Creative Business Forum, as well as
the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will host their
sessions. Experts will discuss exports and the integration of Russian creative
industries into the global economy.
“UNIDO vigorously supports initiatives aimed at
diversification and development of new business competences. I am glad that the
Creative Business Forum helps to unite people and develop effective solutions
for our common sustainable future,” said Sergey Korotkov, Director of
the UNIDO Centre for International Industrial Cooperation in the Russian
Federation.
Leading experts and
practitioners of creative industries will take part in the Forum. Speakers
include Sofia Trotsenko, the founder of Vinzavod centre of contemporary
art, Ekaterina Cherkes-zade, the director of Universal University for
creative industries, Gulnaz Kadyrova, the Deputy Minister of Industry
and Trade of Russian Federation, Natalia Komarova, governor of
Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District, Yuliana Slascheva, Chairman of the
Board of Soyuzmultfilm Film Studio, filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov, Aric
Chen, Chief Curator of Design Miami, Jovan Jelovac, Director
of Belgrade Design Week, Natalia Fishman-Bekmambetova, Advisor to
President of Tatarstan, and Alexander Auzan, Dean of the Economics
Department of Moscow State University.
Discussions and public
lectures of the Creative Business Forum will take place throughout the St.
Petersburg Economic Forum in the Building Trust Area. Some of the events will
also take place as part of the main SPIEF business programme.
The guest country of
this year's SPIEF is Qatar, and the Creative Business Forum will host the
Russian-Qatari Cultural Dialogue. The participants include Ms. Fatma Hassan,
Chief Executive Officer of the Doha Film Institute, Dr. Ahmad M. Hasna,
President of Hamad Bin Khalifa University and others.
“Creative industries are an important driver of
demand. They occupy a significant share in the structure of consumption and
ensure sustainable development: a balanced approach to the use of resources for
the realization of needs. Qatar National Development Strategy pays special
attention to the intensive development of the country's economy through
knowledge, technology and innovation, when the main factors of production are
actually inexhaustible intellectual resources, as opposed to finite natural
resources,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al-Thani, Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Russian
Federation.
Creative Business Forum is organized by the
Innosocium Foundation, the social platform of the Roscongress Foundation. The
Forum is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The
intellectual partner of the Forum is EY.
