Pulkovo Airport is the first Russian
airport to receive the international healthcare certificate under the Airport
Health Accreditation Programme. This document confirms the effectiveness of
measures taken by the airport to ensure safety and protect health of passengers
and employees during the pandemic.
“Safety and comfort of Forum participants
is the priority of the SPIEF Organizing Committee, and the guest reception
procedure at the city’s main airport corresponds to organizers’ goals,” noted
Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, Executive Secretary of the
SPIEF Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov.
Pulkovo’s certification process began in
late 2020 in an audit format under over 100 criteria concerning passenger
service zones in the terminal, including check-in, security check, departures
and arrivals, baggage claim, restaurants and shops.
“This year Pulkovo Airport will again
welcome SPIEF participants and guests. The annual preparation process includes
working with all involved government agencies and security services. In 2021,
we are also working to meet the public health requirements. From the beginning
of the pandemic Pulkovo Airport together with Rospotrebnadzor has been
implementing all necessary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Pulkovo has become the first Russian airport to get the international
certificate under the Airport Health Accreditation Programme. It confirms the
effectiveness of measures taken by the airport to ensure safety and protect
health of passengers and employees during the pandemic,” said CEO of Northern
Capital Gateway Leonid Sergeev.
In particular, the airport has changed the
schedule for cleaning and disinfecting rooms and surfaces, including lifts,
stairs, check-in counters, security check areas, boarding stairs and passenger
buses, with antiviral agents. Hand sanitizer dispensers are installed in public
areas along the way from the check-in area to boarding gates. Masks, gloves,
antiseptic gels and wipes can be purchased from special vending machines located
at the airport. All airport employees are provided with individual protective
equipment.
The air in the terminal is disinfected
with UV recirculators. Regular announcements inform passengers and visitors
about COVID-19 prevention measures and the need to use individual protective
equipment at the airport. Check-in, security check and boarding gate areas are
marked to help maintain a safe distance. Information stickers about the need to
keep a distance are also placed on the seats in the airport lounges.
Moreover, PCR and express COVID testing
sites have been organized at Pulkovo Airport.
As of early April 2021, certificates under
the Airport Health Accreditation Programme were granted to more than 360
airports worldwide, including such large cities as Abu Dhabi, Amsterdam,
Berlin, London, Milan, Munich, Beijing, Seoul, Singapore and Istanbul.
