The Roscongress Foundation and the National Chamber of Commerce and Services of Uruguay signed a cooperation agreement to establish effective communication between expert, business, and political communities of the Russian Federation and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay. This document was signed by Julio César Lestido, President of the National Chamber of Commerce and Services of Uruguay and Alexander Stuglev, CEO and Chairman of the Roscongress Foundation.
The parties exchanged the documents during the meeting between Ministers of Foreign Relations of Russia and Uruguay in Moscow on 1 December.
The agreement covers the following major areas: developing common international communication platforms to promote intergovernmental cooperation in different fields; strengthening existing partnership ties among members of Russian and Uruguayan business communities, as well as finding and developing new ones. The parties agreed to help maintain the dialogue on cooperating in investment, finance, export and import, tourism, and culture. The parties will also focus on promotion and media coverage of events aimed at strengthening communication between both countries.
“From the Chamber of Commerce and Services of Uruguay, we are sure that this cooperation agreement signed with the Roscongress Foundation will help to increase and strengthen the relation between our countries and our companies as well. We feel really satisfied to be working with the Russian Federation, a huge and interest market for our companies. On the other hand, I believe that Russian organizations can see Uruguay as an economically stable country, which in turn is a gateway to South America. We are deeply grateful with the Roscongress Foundation and Russian Federation for their strives to keep strengthening their ties with our region. We are proud to have signed this agreement” noted Julio César Lestido, President of the National Chamber of Commerce and Services of Uruguay.
Cooperation between the two organizations includes various formats, such as mutual consulting and expert support for economic and social agendas; organization of joint events (forums, conferences, roundtables, business meetings, fairs, presentations, etc.), as well as outreach, and ensuring a positive reputation of the parties’ joint activity. “The Roscongress Foundation has been cooperating with officials and members of the business community of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay. The agreement we have signed with our partners – the National Chamber of Commerce and Services of Uruguay – will secure key cooperation areas and formats for the next several years. I am confident this cooperation will help bring old ideas to life and give an impetus to the business ties between Russia and Uruguay,” emphasized Alexander Stuglev, CEO and Chairman of the Roscongress Foundation.
In 2016, the Roscongress Foundation together with the Bering–Bellingshausen Institute for the Americas organized Russia–Latin America Business and Media Forum. It took place in Montevideo and brought in over 100 officials and representatives of business and expert communities of Russia and Uruguay.
