An
online conference titled Coronavirus Charity in Russia: How the Crisis Has
Brought Everyone Together will be held at 12:00 p.m. on 15 May. The conference
is being organized by the Innosocium Foundation, the social platform of the
Roscongress Foundation.
The
conference will be broadcast on the Roscongress-TV YouTube
channel and on the Roscongress Foundations official
Facebook account.
More
than 3.7 million cases of coronavirus have been recorded around the world since
the outbreak of the pandemic, with over 200,000 cases in Russia. COVID-19 has
taken a major toll on the economy and various industries, but has had the
biggest impact on people, many of whom have been left without work or any
social interaction and need medicines and food.
However,
the crisis has also shown the amazing ability of people, NPOs,
charitable foundations, and business to come together. The number of volunteers
has increased, NPOs are finding new opportunities to help people in need, and
companies are redirecting their resources to support people who are unable to
take care of themselves.
«Today,
when Russia, along with the rest of the world, is going through a very
difficult time, we can see how much charity contributes to overcoming social
problems. Much work has been done, but there is still a lot to do. This will be
the focus of the discussion at our event. We invite all those who are concerned
to attend it», said Elena Marinina, Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation
and Director for the Socio-Economic Agenda.
During the conference, representatives of Russian charitable foundations, associations, and companies will discuss special aspects of charity in Russia during the COVID-19 pandemic, current social problems, and how each of us can help in solving them.
