‘My Opinion’ Survey: We Struggle, But Help

20 April 2020
Результаты опроса «Мое мнение»: нам сложно, но мы помогаем

The Roscongress Foundation is ready to share the results of its first survey that canvassed the audience of the Foundation’s events.

‘Charity and Volunteering’ is a survey offered by ‘My Opinion’, which is a new product by the Roscongress Foundation that helps measure public opinion on the most immediate challenges facing our communities. The Foundation plans to take weekly surveys that would be available to the Foundation’s audience in their Roscongress personal accounts.

«In the time of uncertainty and stress that became part of daily struggle for so many of us due to the pandemic and economic instability, it is crucial to rely on first-hand information. It brought us to launching ‘My Opinion’, a project that helps us learn what our colleagues, partners, and participants are going through straight from the source. Weekly surveys that cover the most immediate and urgent topics will reveal — and let us share — the practices companies resort to respond to today’s challenges. They will also help us improve our own expertise, which will be beneficial in the future. I am confident the results of our surveys will come in handy for both members of the business community and regular audience who wish to know how our country is coping with this time of hardship and the agenda it brings,» noted Alexey Valkov, Director of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Survey results have shown that almost 81% of respondents support or plan to support social programmes that aid doctors and healthcare professionals.

Employees of over 85% of organizations that took part in the survey work remotely. Others either constantly monitor their staff’s health condition or had to suspend operations due to their staff’s self-isolation. Almost 10% of canvassed organizations suspended their operations due to the pandemic.

61% of survey participants indicated that their organizations partake in charitable initiatives to help fight the pandemic. Another 9,5% plan to join such initiatives in the near future. It is mostly the organizations that were forced to suspend their operations that were reluctant to take part in such initiatives

76% of respondents are aware of the ‘In This Together’ initiative, and almost 10% of them plan to partake in the near future. Most respondents oblivious to the initiative’s existence represent organizations from outside of Russia.

Most participants believe that the risk group involves all people equally regardless of their occupation, size of their business, or age due to cumulative influence of factors (the novel coronavirus, and restrictive measures introduced by the Government of the Russian Federation). At the same time, almost 30% indicated a higher risk for the older generation (65+). Less than 1% disregard the severity of the virus

The survey results have also shown that female participants are better informed about existing social programmes and charitable initiatives than the male ones.

Key outcome of the survey is the following: most members of the business community consider this situation equally risky and unpredictable for everybody; some of them were forced to suspend operations in this environment. Despite this, the absolute majority of businesses partake in social programmes, charitable initiatives and other campaigns that support doctors and other social groups. It proves that most are unconditionally prepared to help those who struggle, though business sustains losses due to the pandemic.

‘My Opinion’ will offer regular surveys that would be available to Roscongress events participants in their Roscongress Personal Accounts. The results will be published in the ‘News’ section of the Roscongress official website.

The next survey will address support measures in Russian regions.
