Since June 2019, more than 25 events
have been successfully held under Russia’s presidency in SCO and BRICS during
which experts discussed a wide range of issues related to the sustainable
development of countries.
«The events under Russia’s presidency are held not only
in Russia, but also abroad, in particular in the United States and Saudi
Arabia. Everything is being materialized as planned and within the approved schedule,»
says Mr. Anton Kobyakov,
Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of
the Organizing Committee for the Preparation to and Support of the Presidency
of the Russian Federation in SCO in 2019-20 and in BRICS in 2020. «The Presidency’s Organizing Committee is
monitoring recent developments concerning the spread of coronavirus. We have envisaged
comprehensive solutions to help hold all expert events proficiently and absolutely
safe for all delegates and guests from SCO and BRICS member countries».
Notably, among the most relevant events were the meeting
of Heads of SCO Environmental Protection Ministries, the meeting of BRICS Senior
Officials Committee on Energy, the session of Heads of Sanitary and
Epidemiological Welfare Services of the SCO member states, ministerial meetings
on prompt joint response to emergencies, the meeting of Heads of SCO Science
and Technology Ministries, as well as the meeting of the BRICS Contact Group on
Economic and Trade Issues and the BRICS Young Parliamentarians’ Forum which was
held a few days ago.
In all, over a thousand experts and journalists from
across the world took part in the events.
Under the Russian Federation’s
presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS, about 200 more
events will take place before the end of 2020 in 13 Russian cities, including in
St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk and Moscow.
SCO and BRICS summit meetings will
be held on July 21-23, 2020, in St. Petersburg,
Russia.
