Roscongress Foundation Presents Green Economy Report

Фонд Росконгресс представляет доклад по вопросам зеленой экономики

As part of the Russia House project in Davos open during the 2020 World Economic Forum, experts from the analytical division of the Roscongress Foundation have prepared an analytical digest entitled Green Economy and International Trade: Towards Sustainable Development. The report examines the green economy concept and the trade in green goods as factors stimulating sustainable development in the context of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The material has been published in the Analytics section of the ROSCONGRESS.ORG Information and Analytical System.

The report touches on two global issues on the agenda of the 2020 World Economic Forum in Davos. The first is how to tackle environmental and climate problems that negatively affect the environment and the economy. The second involves transforming industry and systems of trade and consumption to achieve more sustainable and inclusive business models.

«The study conducted by analysts at the Roscongress Foundation clearly demonstrates that the creation of a green economy and sustainable development help significantly reduce environmental risks, improve people’s well-being, and increase social justice. To implement this approach, we must transform industrial systems in accordance with environmental requirements and provide financing for the transition and investment in natural capital. We understand that it would be impossible to implement these changes without the cooperation of the international business community, and for our part we will do our best to facilitate this cooperation,» Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Roscongress Foundation Alexander Stuglev said.

The responsible use of international trade mechanisms facilitates the resolution of the problem of ever decreasing stocks of natural resources and the excessive use of environmentally harmful practices. On the one hand, the sustainable development is facilitated by the restriction of trade in goods that pose a danger to the environment and humans, and on the other hand, the liberalization of trade in green goods and the creation of conditions for their use.

The green economy concept and international trade in green goods, of course, stimulate sustainable development and are the key to achieving the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
