The
Governors Club held its first meeting in Moscow and was attended by the leaders
of ten regions: the Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov, Sakhalin, Ryazan, Oryol, and
Chelyabinsk Regions, the Republics of Sakha (Yakutia) and Adygea, and the
Transbaikal and Stavropol Territories. The meeting was also attended by First
Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration and Rosatom State Corporation
Chairman of the Supervisory Board Sergey Kiriyenko and Roscongress Foundation
Chairman of the Board and CEO Alexander Stuglev.
The idea of
creating such a club was proposed by the Rosatom State Atomic Energy
Corporation and Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin. The Governors
Club aims to attract resources and consolidate the experience that the leaders
of 21 regions have gained in terms of improving existing and creating new
systems to improve the efficiency of public administration, the social sector,
and manufacturing. The Clubs key goals are to identify the best projects to
achieve regional targets, draft joint legislative initiatives in state and
municipal government, reduce administrative barriers, and improve the
efficiency of public administration.
Nikitin and
Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev proposed holding meetings of the
Governors Club at Russias largest forums: the Russian Investment Forum in
Sochi, the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Eastern Economic
Forum in Vladivostok, and others.
«The regions and their projects are
traditionally given significant attention at our events. Roscongress actively
supports the creation of the Club. The idea of holding regular meetings with
leaders is a wonderful initiative. We are ready to provide support in all
organizational matters. The well-conceived infrastructure of our forums as well
as the presence of a special zone the Governors Lounge will enable the leaders
of Russias regions to focus their shared efforts on regional development. I am
certain that the Governors Club that has been created is destined to become an
effective platform for dialogue», Stuglev said.
At all
Roscongress events, the regions will have the opportunity to present their
investment and business projects in the exhibition area. The Foundations
special units RK-Investments and Business Priority aim to improve the
competitiveness of the Russian economy by promoting domestic innovative
products and technologies.
An extensive
business agenda, exhibition opportunities, and the line-up of participants
create the conditions for a comprehensive presentation of the regions and the
exchange of experience among their leaders.
The next meeting will take place at the Russian Investment Forum, which will be held in Sochi on 1214 February. The meeting participants also agreed to hold offsite meetings of the Club in the regions at least twice a year.
