В Лондоне обсудили ход подготовки 25-го Мирового энергетического конгресса

The World Energy Council (WEC) held meetings on 25–27 November to discuss preparations for the 25th World Energy Congress on 24–27 October 2022 in St. Petersburg. Events in London were a follow-up to negotiations with World Energy Council Chairman Jean-Marie Dauger. The WEC chairman’s visit was timed to coincide with the Russian Energy Week International Forum, which took place this October in Moscow.

The meetings were attended by the World Energy Council’s representatives, members of the Organizing Committee of the 25th World Energy Congress as well as the heads of specialized divisions of the Roscongress Foundation in charge of preparations for the event. The Roscongress delegation was headed by the Foundation’s CEO and Chairman of the Board Alexander Stuglev.

During the meetings in the UK capital, the World Energy Council’s officials discussed the different stages of collaboration between the Roscongress Foundation and the Council’s London Secretariat as part of preparations for the 25th World Energy Congress. Including, the terms for participation in the Congress, the preparation of the main venue, drafting of a business programme as well as plans to promote the 25th anniversary of the event. They devoted special attention to the experience gained from the 24th World Energy Congress that was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, in September 2019.

«The timely planning of preparations for all events is one of the key components and priorities in the Roscongress Foundation’s work. The success of any event is predicated on the creation of a proper roadmap. When it comes to such a significant and high-profile project as the World Energy Congress, issues concerning the planning of work schedule take centre stage. It’s the Roscongress Foundation’s job to create a comfortable venue in St. Petersburg that can unite representatives of all continents to address the strategic objectives in the energy sector. This is a great responsibility and a new challenge for us. I’m certain that our team’s professionalism and experience will enable us to host the World Energy Congress at the highest level», Stuglev said.

Dr Angela Wilkinson, Secretary General & CEO, World Energy Council, said: «The World Energy Council has been at the forefront of the energy debate for nearly a century, providing deeper insights and catalysing new collaborative actions around the world with the common aim of securing reliable, affordable and sustainable energy for all. The triennial World Energy Congress is a unique and truly worldwide gathering of the entire global energy community: customers, cities, companies and countries. I am confident that our 25th anniversary World Energy Congress organized by the Roscongress Foundation will engage leadership at the highest level and enable a great step forward in moving together through successfully managed energy transition».

The working meetings on preparations for the 25th World Energy Congress were held in London on the eve of the 5th Russian-British Business Forum, which was organized by the Roscongress Foundation and the Trade Delegation of the Russian Federation in the United Kingdom. The event took place on 27 November 2019 at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in Westminster. The Forum was attended by more than 1,000 British and Russian business leaders, government officials, development institutions, and international organizations.
