The annual 2018 General Assembly of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) will be held in St. Petersburg on 7 December and will conclude with an awards ceremony for motor sport world champions, FIA President Jean Todt said in Paris.
Roscongress Foundation Chairman of the Board and CEO Alexander Stuglev and Russian Automobile Federation (RAF) President Viktor Kiryanov signed an agreement to jointly organize and hold the FIA General Assembly.
Kiryanov noted: «These are landmark events for international motor sport. A huge responsibility has been placed on our shoulders. We signed a cooperation agreement with the Roscongress Foundation, the largest organizer of international, congress, exhibition, and public events in Russia. I am confident that, with the help of the Foundations specialists and in cooperation with the International Automobile Federation, we will hold world motor sports week in Russia in St. Petersburg at the highest level».
«Cooperation with the Russian Automobile Federation is strategically important for us. We appreciate the opportunity to act as a consultant for such a significant event. The General Assembly will serve as a good occasion for the promotion and development of motor sport in Russia as well as for interaction with participants from other countries», Stuglev said.
Each year, the FIA congress features a number of seminars, roundtables and meetings, including a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council. The meeting participants approve a number of amendments to technical and sports regulations and update the final calendars for the next years motor sport events. The General Assembly will conclude with a gala ceremony and an awards ceremony for world championship winners and finalists.
