Films about the Russian bid to host EXPO 2025, presented in Paris on 13 June at the 163rd General Assembly of the Bureau International des Exhibitions (BIE), shortlisted at Corporate Media & TV Awards 2018, the world’s leading festival of corporate films, online media productions and documentaries, and received the Best Film nomination. The festival will take place in Cannes on 26–27 September.
Four productions were submitted to the non-feature film festival in Cannes. These films complemented the Russian speakers’ addresses to the delegates of the General Assembly of the BIE on relevant topics: about the country, the candidate city, the projects of the exhibition and the legacy of EXPO 2025. As part of the Russian delegation, the bid was presented by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation — Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Yevgeny Kyuvashev, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Alexander Sergeev and Angelika Timanina, an Olympic champion and a native of Yekaterinburg.
«What do these events usually lack? They lack emotional involvement of the viewer. This became our main goal: to not just give rational information about our bid in promo videos, but to evoke the sense of ownership, to address each decision-making viewer personally, let them feel that we are talking to them directly. The idea was that all four videos are united with a single concept — ‘To be continued’. This unity is emphasized by recurrent characters that appear in all four videos, the voice-over and the soundtrack,» notes Alexander CHERNOV, General Director of the EXPO 2025 Bid Committee.
The Corporate Media & TV Awards Festival annually takes place in Cannes and accepts works from around the world. In 2017, the festival brought together participants from more than 40 countries. Executives of reputable video production companies, winners of Oscar and Emmy Awards are on the jury of the festival.
