The first day of the business programme at the International Far Eastern Maritime Show, which is taking place in Vladivostok from 26 to 28 July 2018, is completed. This largest industrial event in Russia is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The IFEMS 2018 is held at the initiative of Andrey Tarasenko, Head of the Primorsky Territory. The event is operated by the Roscongress Foundation.
The key event of the first day was the
plenary session entitled «Water transport in the era of digitalization and new technologies».
Its panel consisted of Yury Borisov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the
Russian Federation; Oleg Ryazantsev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of
the Russian Federation; Sergey Avakyants, Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific
Fleet of the Russian Navy; Igor Shakalo, Acting Vice President for Civilian
Shipbuilding, United Shipbuilding Corporation; and Andrey Shishkin, Vice
President for Energy, Localization, and Innovations, Rosneft Oil Company.
Andrey Tarasenko, Head of the Primorsky Territory, welcomed participants of the International Far Eastern Maritime Show: «The choice of Vladivostok as the venue for the Show opens up a lot of opportunities not just for interregional, but also for international cooperation, primarily with Asia Pacific countries. Today, those countries are very well represented among the participants, which confirms a growing interest in the Russian shipbuilding. The Far Eastern Maritime Show will present the full potential of and all the opportunities offered by the national civil shipbuilding and ship repair, naval construction and port infrastructure. One feature of the Maritime Show in Vladivostok is its eventful business programme. We have also prepared a full cultural programme for the participants and guests of the Maritime Show. I am confident that the Show will become a significant international platform for the Asia Pacific region for the interaction of domestic and foreign companies, the establishment of business contacts, and the promotion of Russian products in international markets.»
Show participants and guests of the Primorsky Territory took part in thematic panel sessions focused on topical issues pertaining to the development of shipbuilding and related industries. The topics discussed on the first day included interaction in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, digital navigation, vessel tracking, global industry trends and exploration technologies for the World ocean.
Apart from the official programme, a large-scale exhibition was organized for the participants. Over 1200 square meters have been allocated for leading enterprises, such as the United Shipbuilding Corporation, Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center, Admiralty Shipyards, Baltic Shipyard, Zelenodolsk plant named after A.M. Gorky, «Vostochnaya verf» (Vladivostok Shipyard), Vladivostok Company «ElectroRadioAutomatica» (VC ERA), Zvezda Shipbuilding Facility, «Armalit», etc., to present their projects and R&D initiatives.
Guests of the IFEMS 2018 are also invited to enjoy a cultural programme in Vladivostok. Several venues across the city host more than ten events, including exhibitions, concerts, performances and tours.
During the first day of the business
programme the modern campus of the Far Eastern Federal University welcomed over
1000 delegates, including top managers of the leading shipbuilding companies and
related enterprises from across Russia and more than 15 countries.
The business programme will continue on 28 July at the Show venue. During the final day of the IFEMS 2018 its participants will discuss the development of navigation in the Arctic region, production of bioresourses and upgrade of the fishing fleet, and the future of nautical tourism. In addition, the Marinet National Technology Initiative Conference and the Open Session of NTI Marinet Far Eastern Subgroup will take place at the Show.
