Muhammad Ahmed Al Jaber, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Russian Federation, visited Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, where he discussed with Ivan Lobanov, Rector of the Russian University of Economics, and Grigory Velikikh, Deputy Director of the Roscongress Foundation, cooperation in promoting Russian higher education in the United Arab Emirates. The parties agreed on further practical steps to implement the project.
The international educational project to establish a representative office of Plekhanov University, together with the Roscongress Foundation, is designed to meet the increasing demand from young people in the Arab Emirates for professional education in various sectors of the economy.
Mr. Ambassador noted the high quality of Russian education, in particular at Plekhanov University, and expressed confidence in the successful prospects of the educational project: «The United Arab Emirates has such universities as the Sorbonne, New York University and a number of other famous universities. I am sure that the Russian University of Economics is no worse and can compete with them.»

Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, founded in 1907, is the oldest school of economics in Russia that provides training in a wide range of educational programmes in social studies and humanities, mathematics, natural and technical sciences, IT and design at all educational levels: general secondary — vocational secondary — higher education (bachelor, specialist, master, training of highly qualified personnel) as well as programmes of further education and professional training, including MBA. In the course of its history, the university has trained about 200,000 specialists for various sectors of the national economy.
