SPIEF 2022: More Than 500 Speakers are Confirmed to Attend

Representatives and Central Banks of Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Venezuela, Egypt, heads of international organizations, business associations from Italy, Canada, the United States, France, members of the scientific and cultural community from Russia, China, India, Cuba, and Russian and foreign companies will speak at the anniversary 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

For example, Alexander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Management Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors, Gazprom, are expected to speak at the session devoted to the global gas market and its prospects. Victoria Abramchenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Andrey Guryev, President of the Russian Association of Fertilizer Producers (RAFP), will speak about global challenges in food security.

Mohamed Hamel, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, Alexander Dyukov, Chairman of the Management Board, Chief Executive Officer, Gazprom Neft, Alexey Likhachev, Director General of of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM, and Leonid Mikhelson, Chairman of the Management Board, Member of the Board of Directors, NOVATEK, are expected to address the global energy balance challenges.

A separate session will be devoted to the new realities for Western investors in Russia. The situation on global markets, geopolitical conditions, and the information field are putting enormous pressure on Western companies operating in Russia, and it is of paramount importance to establish an open and friendly dialogue, as well as to find accessible ways of interaction and cooperation. Representatives from the General Confederation of Italian Industry, the Franco-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce, the Canada Eurasia Chamber of Commerce, and the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia, among others, will be discussing these topics.

"SPIEF demonstrates new opportunities and significant prospects for international cooperation, which are not yet fully apparent to some Western participants in business processes. It is precisely these opportunities and current challenges that the rich business programme will explore. The Forum is an effective communication tool between society and the authorities, determining the pace and depth of transformations taking place in the country in the context of global geopolitical changes. The Forum is working out mechanisms for the strategic development of the state in cooperation with all the development institutions, the country's regions, NPOs, public associations, media and youth organizations," Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee – Executive Secretary, said.

The session on the new business agenda of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will feature, among others, the organization’s Secretary-General Zhang Ming, Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyer Khakimov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Affairs, Dmitry Murev, General Director of RZD Logistics, and Sergey Katyrin, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.

In the face of external sanctions pressure, existing logistics chains have been disrupted. The challenges in this area will be discussed by Viktor Evtukhov, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Andrey Severilov, Chairman of the Board of FESCO, and Nazim Efendiev Chief Executive Officer of Management Company METALLOINVEST.

Dmitry Tulin, First Deputy Governor of Bank of Russia, Petr Fradkov, Chairman of Promsvyazbank PJSC, Anatoly Aksakov, Chairman of the Committee on Financial Markets of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Komlev, Chairman of the Management Board, Chief Executive Officer of National Payment Card System, and Vitaly Mutko, Chief Executive Officer of DOM.RF. will participate in the session dedicated to the technological transformation of banks.

Representatives of the central banks of Venezuela and Turkey together with the Russian counterparts will discuss international cooperation in payment systems. Vladimir Bulavin, Head of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation, Alexey Sazanov, State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, and Maxim Akimov, Chief Executive Officer, Russian Post, will consider scenarios for the development of cross-border e-commerce.

Herman Gref, Chief Executive Officer, Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank will traditionally moderate Sber's business breakfast with government leaders, leading entrepreneurs, and experts who will analyze which sectors and technologies should receive priority government support, how to change the infrastructure strategy to refocus trade, and how the budget rule should change.

The Forum will also include a session of the International Valdai Discussion Club devoted to the peculiarities of modern political economy in the context of the crisis of the global order. The participants will discuss the search for new forms of development, the importance of self-sufficiency in today's world, and the possibilities of interaction in different formats.

In addition, SPIEF will present the results of the national rating of the investment climate in Russia's regions. In the current environment, the importance of regional teams’ actions is increasing manifold, and the pace of sharing best management practices between regions is becoming a critical factor in the growth of the economy and the well-being of the country as a whole. Accurate assessment of the investment potential of a particular region, driven by geographic, demographic, and other characteristics critical for making an investment decision, is also becoming an important element of best practices exchange.

The 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will take place on 1518 June 2022 at the ExpoForum.
