24 октября в Сочи состоится саммит Россия – Африка

On 24 October, Russia—Africa Summit will be held in Sochi, co-chaired by Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt and Chairperson of the African Union. This is the first event in the history of Russian—African relations of this level, to which the heads of all the states of the African continent are invited, as well as the leaders of major sub-regional associations and organizations.

At the Summit, there will be a particular focus on the current state and future prospects of Russia’s relations with the countries of the African continent, and the growth of cooperation in the political, economic, technical, and cultural spheres. A wide range of issues on the international agenda will be discussed, including joint measures to combat new challenges and threats, and strengthening regional stability. Following the meeting, it is planned that a political declaration on the main areas of Russian—African cooperation will be adopted.

On 23 October, as part of these high-level events, the leaders of Russia and Egypt will open an Economic Forum, which will include Russian and African officials and representatives of major businesses. At the end of the Forum, it is expected that a substantial package of trade, economic, and investment agreements will be signed.
