The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is located in the north-eastern part of the Eurasian continent and is the largest region of the Russian Federation with a total area of 3.1 million square kilometers.

The economy of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is based on industry, the development of which is primarily associated with the development of the richest natural resources. The republic is one of the most important mineral and mining regions of Russia, and occupies a leading position in the Russian Federation in the production of diamonds, gold, and antimony. Coal, oil, natural gas, platinum, stone-colored raw materials, construction materials and other minerals are extracted on a large scale for domestic and export purposes.

Yakutia is one of the most isolated and inaccessible regions in the world in terms of transport. At the same time, almost all types of transport are represented in Yakutia — rail, aviation, automobile, water (sea and river) and pipeline.

The dominant economic activities of the region are:

  • mining (diamonds, gold, oil, gas, coal, etc.);
  • processing (cutting, jewelry, oil and gas processing, woodworking, production of building materials, etc.)
  • fuel and energy complex (production of energy carriers);
  • timber industry.

Yakutia is one of the fastest growing regions of Russia with a high investment potential. Thanks to the built-up system of development institutions, the creation of completely new sectors of the economy, Yakutia manages to lead the Far East in terms of attracted investment.

The main factors of the investment attractiveness of the Republic include:

  • extensive territory;
  • rich resource potential;
  • the presence of large operating export-oriented enterprises;
  • favorable geographical location and proximity of sales markets of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region;
  • unique tourist potential.
