The programme of the International Financial Congress 2018 starting day was very busy. On 6 June the Congress gathered about 550 participants. Representatives of the Bank of Russia, legislative and executive authorities, foreign regulators and international organizations, major banks and financial companies, professional associations of financial market participants, as well as established international and Russian experts participated in the events of the day.
The Business Programme began with the 16th International Conference of the All-Russian Insurance Association ‘In Search of Growth Areas. Development Strategy’ and the Bank of Russia International Research Conference ‘Inflation: New Insights for Central Banks’, where economists, scientists and representatives of research institutions presented studies on inflation in different countries of the world.
The Manege Central Exhibition Hall, the venue of the Congress, hosted a number of round tables on the issues of the asset management regulations, behavioural supervision, the pension system as well as mechanisms for capital market and financing infrastructure projects.
Participants of the ‘Strengthening the Rationality and Integrity of Financial Organization Directors: A Toolset’ discussion panel examined issues of corporate management responsibility.
The ‘Current Issues in Microfinance’ Conference was devoted to the discussion of regulatory changes in monitoring the microfinance sector.
The Meeting of the Committee of Russian National SWIFT Association (ROSSWIFT) was also a part of the Business Programme of the event.
On the starting day of the International Financial Congress, bankers’ associations and self-regulating organizations (SROs) of the financial market signed a memorandum of cooperation in confronting sales malpractice of financial products and services of non-credit financial organizations. The Memorandum shall become an effective mechanism for the professional community and the Bank of Russia’s countering the phenomenon of mis-selling: due to insufficient information support at the credit institution’s office, what the consumer actually receives falls short of their investment expectations of a financial product or service.
Concert by the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev was a part of the IFC-2018 Cultural Programme.
For the first time sporting events became part of the International Financial Congress programme. The participants enjoyed Roscongress Cup tournaments for 'free pyramid' pool and squash.
The competitions attracted many top managers of banks and financial institutions. Chairman of the Management Board and General Director of Energomashbank Gennady Vetrov came second in the pool tournament, while Chairman of the Board of Uralsib Bank Konstantin Bobrov took part in the squash competition.
The exhibition featuring the stands of VTB Bank, Mir payment system, Russian Agricultural Bank, Moscow Exchange, Rostelecom, SME Bank, Russian National Reinsurance Company, Goznak, FinCERT, FinTech Association, and ROSINKAS Association has opened.
