Leaders of politics, business and sport will take part in SPIEF Sport Week, a sport and entertainment programme of the 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
On 16 June at 11:30 SPIEF participants will be able to see the spectacular staredown preceding the Match TV Victory Cup boxing tournament. Russian national team leaders Ilya Popov, Ruslan Kolesnikov, Vsevolod Shumkov and other participants of the tournament will face each other at the ceremony. The legendary heavyweight and Olympic boxing champion Alexander Povetkin will be the guest of honour at the staredown. The ceremony will take place at the stand of the Russian Boxing Federation, which will be presented at SPIEF for the first time and will be dedicated to the 30thanniversary of the organization. The first stage of the Match TV Victory Cup team tournament series will also be held as part of SPIEF Sport Week.
Members of the government, senior regional officials, and heads of leading companies will play in the Roscongress Cup hockey gala match. “Business is the biggest driver of sports and hockey in particular. That is why it was impossible to find a better venue than SPIEF for a hockey match between businessmen. At the Forum, we will also present the multifunctional sports complex in Omsk, which will be ready by the fall and will be the new home arena for Avangard,” said Alexander Krylov, Chairman of Avangard's Board of Directors and Director of Regional Sales for Gazprom Neft.
Danis Zaripov, three-time world hockey champion will present all participants with professional hockey sticks produced by the Zaryad factory, which he founded. The general partner of the hockey gala-match is G-Drive.
Participants of the gala basketball match will have a unique opportunity to play at the Sibur Arena, home of Zenit, first-time winner of the VTB United League. Players of the strongest club in the country – Olympic medallist Sergey Karasev and Denis Zakharov – will take part in a match between “St. Petersburg” and “Moscow”. Chairman of the board of directors of BC Zenit Alexander Medvedev will be the captain of “St. Petersburg”. Valery Kazikaev, the chairman of Udokan Copper Board of Directors will lead the “Moscow” team, formed with the support of Skolkovo basketball club. The pre-match warm-up will be conducted by the Zenit BC physical training coach Yaroslav Yalovchuk.
Famous football players Sergey Yuran and Pavel Pogrebnyak will strengthen the teams of SPIEF and St. Petersburg in a gala-match of the Roscongress Cup at the Petrovsky Stadium.
Alexander Uss, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and President of the Russian Golf Association Victor Khristenko will head the golf tournament, which will be traditionally hosted by the Peterhof Golf Club. A presentation of the National Student Golf League as well as a discussion on the prospects of interaction between the business and sport communities will take place on the tournament's fields.
Traditional equestrian tournament Roscongress Cup this time will take place at Venta Equestrian Club. Competitions will take place as part of the St. Petersburg Cup in show jumping.
The head of Bashkortostan Rady Khabirov and the president of the School Sports Federation of Russia, three-time Olympic champion in figure skating Irina Rodnina will present the CIS School Sports Festival at the region’s stand. The festival will bring together more than 500 teenagers in Ufa in November. RC-Sport, the sports platform of the Roscongress Foundation, is the festival’s operator.
At the Forum venue SPIEF participants will be able to see Flanker F, the world's first drifting hypercar. The unique car was created in St. Petersburg under the guidance of racer and businessman Sergey Kabargin. In March of this year at the Baikal Mile Maria Knight on Flanker F set up a record of speed on drifting on ice: 252 km/h. The RK-Sport’s racing version of VAZ-2105, which participates in Classic Touring Cup series, will be presented as well. For the first time at SPIEF Sport Week there will be a STUNT SHOW, where the world champion Thomas Kalinin and other best Russian stunt riders will amaze the audiences with extreme stunt riding on a motorcycle on a levelled ground.
The general partner of SPIEF Sport Week is Liga Stavok. RC-Sport is the operator of the Sport Programme, which unites the events in 15 different sports.
