Friends for Leadership, an international community of the next generation opinion leaders and entrepreneurs, developed by the Center for International Promotion with the support of the Roscongress Foundation, has initiated the Friends for Transparency international project. This direction of work implements the idea of a new program for monitoring the electoral processes in the world.
The first pilot launch of the project was the observation of the early parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova on 11 July 11 2021. 48 project participants received accreditation from the CEC of Moldova as part of the delegations of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations, as well as freelance correspondents for Moldovan television to observe elections at foreign polling stations in 21 countries.
«Initiatives like these can bring together non-indifferent community leaders and invite them to monitor election campaigns at municipal, regional, national and international levels to ensure transparency standards and build trust in democratic mechanisms,» said Friends for Leadership Founding Member, Advisor to the CEO of the Roscongress Foundation on Youth Policy Roman Chukov.
The new project is aimed at identifying organizations and public figures in various countries and regions of the world whose areas of interest are the study of legal, technological and, to a lesser extent, political aspects of elections, for the subsequent unification of these experts and organizations in the Friends for Transparency international expert pool for discussion and exchange of innovative practices in order to improve electoral procedures and restore citizens confidence in this institute.
At the moment, it is planned to turn this initiative into a permanent international mechanism for public observation of electoral processes in the world in cooperation with regional and international organizations, including the UN agencies.
Friends for Leadership community of the next generation leaders and entrepreneurs was launched in 2018 by the joint efforts of the Center for International Promotion and the Roscongress Foundation during SPIEF. It now brings together project teams from over 100 countries working to scale up their solutions across 22 project teams, including 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
