Leaders of Kamchatkas fisheries industry will take part in the Global Fishery Forum and Seafood Expo on 1416 September in St Petersburg. Participants in this major trade event include leading companies and organisations, such as Okeanrybflot, Lenin Fishing Collective, Ustkamchatryba, Ozernovsky Fish Canning Plant No. 55, OOO Rybkholkam, Narody Severa Fishing Collective and others.
Кamchatka has traditionally been a leader in the fisheries industry. Over the last ten years, 18 new fish processing plants have been built in the region with a total of RUB 23 billion invested in the industry.
«Each year Kamchatka fishermen catch roughly one million tonnes of aquatic bioresources, or about a quarter of all Russian catches. Our enterprises produce roughly 850,000 tonnes of fish products, most of which are sent to the domestic market. Kamchatka fish has always been renowned for its high quality. The participation of our enterprises in the Global Fishery Forum in St. Petersburg will make it possible to demonstrate the achievements of Kamchatka fishing companies, properly present the region on a broad international platform, and find new partners for to develop the Kamchatka industry. I am confident that the Forum will be one of the most important on the calendar of industry events», Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Ilyukhin said.
It is not only Russian regions that are expressing an interest in the Forums extensive exhibition and business programmes. Organizations and delegations from more that 50 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America have been invited. Norways Minister of Fisheries Per Sandberg has confirmed he will be participating. Moroccos Agriculture Minister and Faroe Islands Minister of Fisheries have tentatively agreed to take part.
The Global Fishery Forum and Seafood Expo will take place on 1416 September at the Lenexpo exhibition centre in St. Petersburg.
